Figure Drawing and Painting

I have loved this since I spent my 5 years in Art School in Brighton in the UK. We would be required to go to the life drawing and painting studio every day and it honed my skills. I picked it back up when I started drawing on my iPad but then continued in charcoal, graphite, pen and ink, watercolor and oil.

Some of the artwork in this section was done in front of the figure, often at a cafe or restaurant. Others were done in a studio environment with posed figures.

I began to draw figures in the workshops I attended by San Sutton and went on from there.

Digital drawings

Here are a few of my charcoal and graphite figure drawings. Sometimes I take a drawing and I use digital tools to add to it - truly mixing media.

I teach figure drawing in our Joy of Drawing Studio classes. We also have several recorded videos on our website that you might find useful. Visit us at www.thejoyofdrawing.org

Two Women

This is a fairly repeating theme of mine to draw and paint women who are in the same space but not really conversing. This was done from a life drawing.
